Hampshire Family Road Trip 2014

The Hampshire's took a road trip to Florida last week for my father-in-law's wedding.  We decided to get there a couple days early to take advantage of the beach and make a little vacation out of it.  We split the trip up on the way there and made a quick stop in Port Arthur, but on the way back we did it all in one day.  The kids did awesome.  Mady was a great passenger, never complained, and just enjoyed the ride.  I would travel with that girl anywhere.  Owen, considering he is 7 months old, did great too.  He had a few moments of screaming and crying, but who can blame him!

This girl was asking to go to the beach all summer.  So glad her wish was finally granted!

We met the other Hampshire clan there and we all had a blast.  Great time to get away and have some  fun!

This guy was a great beach buddy.  He played with the sand, napped, ate, and just relaxed.  My kind of guy!

These girls were working hard on their sand castle.

During some downtime at the condo, Mady drew us a picture of her and Owen.  Quite the artist, ha!

7 Months!

More like 7 and a half months, but better late than never.  Owen is now seven months old, and will be eight in a couple of weeks!  No doctor appointment this month, but he is certainly growing.  9 month clothes are getting snug.

This guy is still trying to figure out the crawling thing, and he can move backwards, but can't go forward.  He will start kicking those legs and try so hard but gets so mad when he's not getting anywhere.  He will roll back and forth from his tummy to his back trying to get somewhere, and somehow it works!  He loves to stand.  He pulls up every time I grab his hands and he is now trying to pull up anytime he gets his hands on something that will work.  He's done it a couple of times now.  He is full of smiles and laughs when he is standing like he is just the coolest guy in town.

We got a visit form Grandpa Hamp
As for sleeping, we are officially on a two naps a day schedule and sleeping (for the most part) through the night.  He might wake up once or twice looking for the paci, but he goes right back to sleep.  Naps are about an hour and a half to two hours.  Of course, being the second kid means we don't always stick to a schedule and have things to do, but he is so flexible and just goes with the flow.  He is a champ when it comes to eating, and loves everything, even avocado!  I tried and tried to get Mady to eat avocado when she was a baby and she hated it, but this guy loves it.

As he gets older, him and Mady are "playing" more and more together.  She loves making him laugh, and it doesn't take much for him to laugh at big sister.

The little baby who spent most of his first few months screaming and crying is now the most chill, relaxed, happy little guy.  I never would of guessed.  He is full of smiles and laughs, will let anyone hold him, and is so flexible.  We just love him so much and couldn't imagine our lives without him.

Of course, I have to throw in a couple of my crazy silly girl!

Blue vanilla ice cream!

Didn't take long for her to become a river girl

This is no ribbon, it's Mady's puppy.  She pulls it along, and I made the mistake of standing on it one day and she got so upset because I was standing on her puppy and hurt him.  I had to give the puppy a kiss to make it better.  I make sure to watch where I step now.  Love her imagination!

What a month!

We've been in our house about a month now and we have settled in pretty well.  Preschool started for Mady last week and I am glad to be back in a routine, and getting some normal back into our lives.  Mady did great the first day and was so happy after I picked her up but she was not happy to go back the second day.  We'll see how this week goes for her.  I'm confident she will get use to it and it will get better.  It's been a fun month for us!

6 Months

Little man is halfway to a year.  This last month seemed to fly by for us, and before we knew it Owen was 6 months old.  He changed a lot in this past month and grew up quite a bit.  I got his stats at his 6 month appointment today.  I was a bit sad not to be going to our old pediatrician but his new doctor was great, and I really like her and the office.

Weight: 18lbs 2 oz  (60th percentile)
Length: 26.75 inches (60th percentile)
Head: 17.5 inches (68th percentile)

Developmentally, Owen has grown quite a bit.  He is sitting like a pro now, and loves sitting and playing with his toys and watching everything going on around him.  He doesn't like being by himself though, and he will get upset if he doesn't see anyone around him.  He's mastered rolling and can roll from back to tummy, and tummy to back.  He only likes to roll from back to tummy though.  Crawling may come this month because when he's on his tummy he will pull all the way up on his arms and move his legs like crazy.  He gets frustrated after a while because he's not getting anywhere.

We're sitting in the shopping carts now!

He will now reach his arms out when you go to pick him up, and he will snuggle up against my neck which is the sweetest thing.  He's just a bundle of cuteness with his snuggles, and smiles, and laughs. I could eat him up, haha!

Fun in the sun

He LOVES swinging

and he LOVES his sister

Since we've been in the house his sleeping has gotten much better.  He takes two to three naps a day depending on how the day goes.  I think the third nap will probably end soon.  As for nighttime, he's sleeping through the night besides waking up wanting his paci if he's lost it.

We started solids almost two weeks ago.  We tried oatmeal which he did not like at all.  So far he's tried sweet potatoes, apples, and peas, and we tried pears today.  He loves sweet potatoes and peas, but was not a fan of apples.   After today, we can add pears to the list of foods he doesn't like.  He's eating one meal a day and nursing about four to five times a day.  He's a growing boy and is now in 9 month clothing.

Time to break out this thing again

The kids took a bath together for the first time tonight and they had so much fun.  It's so cute watching these two.  He's growing so fast and we are loving every minute.
