Mady's Latest

Mady has been so busy lately, she needs her own post!  We had a few days of cooler (meaning not in the 90's) weather, and to this girl, it means she needs to put on her hat and gloves.  True Texan right here.

We checked out the deer at Landa park, and tried to feed them some carrots.  We were a little successful, but they didn't want to get too close.  Mady of course had to partake in the carrot eating as well.

After weeks of no rain, we have been getting rain again, and it is wonderful!  That means fun playing in the rain, and time inside working on crafts.

We may have been a little late on this, but Mady had her first dentist appointment last week.  She did great and her teeth are in great shape as well!

This week was the annual Comal County Fair, and that is a big deal around here!  Her school had their own parade, and Mady's class had to make stick horses to ride in on.  This is her with Nemo, and she was so cute riding in on her horse.  Such a great idea, because now she has a new toy to play with at home.  We also checked out the big parade on Friday, and headed to the fair with friends. We had to go twice because the first day we went it started pouring down rain on us and we all came home soaking wet.  All, except for Owen, who stayed nice and dry covered in the stroller, as we booked it to the car.

They took a pic with the Fair Queen!

Her favorite part of the parade...HEB!

She finally got to get on a tractor.  She has been wanting to do this for a while.

Her first rides!

Mady is our Texas tornado.  She is so energetic, and does not stop moving (and talking) all day.  Her strong will is a strong as ever, and when she's set on something it is not fun to be the one saying no.  But she also has a huge heart,  especially for her little brother.  Owen is so fortunate to have her because she is hands down, the best big sister there is.  Watching how much she is thriving here lately has been so fun to watch.

Hampshire Family Road Trip 2014

The Hampshire's took a road trip to Florida last week for my father-in-law's wedding.  We decided to get there a couple days early to take advantage of the beach and make a little vacation out of it.  We split the trip up on the way there and made a quick stop in Port Arthur, but on the way back we did it all in one day.  The kids did awesome.  Mady was a great passenger, never complained, and just enjoyed the ride.  I would travel with that girl anywhere.  Owen, considering he is 7 months old, did great too.  He had a few moments of screaming and crying, but who can blame him!

This girl was asking to go to the beach all summer.  So glad her wish was finally granted!

We met the other Hampshire clan there and we all had a blast.  Great time to get away and have some  fun!

This guy was a great beach buddy.  He played with the sand, napped, ate, and just relaxed.  My kind of guy!

These girls were working hard on their sand castle.

During some downtime at the condo, Mady drew us a picture of her and Owen.  Quite the artist, ha!

Wedding time!

7 Months!

More like 7 and a half months, but better late than never.  Owen is now seven months old, and will be eight in a couple of weeks!  No doctor appointment this month, but he is certainly growing.  9 month clothes are getting snug.

This guy is still trying to figure out the crawling thing, and he can move backwards, but can't go forward.  He will start kicking those legs and try so hard but gets so mad when he's not getting anywhere.  He will roll back and forth from his tummy to his back trying to get somewhere, and somehow it works!  He loves to stand.  He pulls up every time I grab his hands and he is now trying to pull up anytime he gets his hands on something that will work.  He's done it a couple of times now.  He is full of smiles and laughs when he is standing like he is just the coolest guy in town.

As for sleeping, we are officially on a two naps a day schedule and sleeping (for the most part) through the night.  He might wake up once or twice looking for the paci, but he goes right back to sleep.  Naps are about an hour and a half to two hours.  Of course, being the second kid means we don't always stick to a schedule and have things to do, but he is so flexible and just goes with the flow.  He is a champ when it comes to eating, and loves everything, even avocado!  I tried and tried to get Mady to eat avocado when she was a baby and she hated it, but this guy loves it.

As he gets older, him and Mady are "playing" more and more together.  She loves making him laugh, and it doesn't take much for him to laugh at big sister.

The little baby who spent most of his first few months screaming and crying is now the most chill, relaxed, happy little guy.  I never would of guessed.  He is full of smiles and laughs, will let anyone hold him, and is so flexible.  We just love him so much and couldn't imagine our lives without him.

Of course, I have to throw in a couple of my crazy silly girl!

Blue vanilla ice cream!

Didn't take long for her to become a river girl

This is no ribbon, it's Mady's puppy.  She pulls it along, and I made the mistake of standing on it one day and she got so upset because I was standing on her puppy and hurt him.  I had to give the puppy a kiss to make it better.  I make sure to watch where I step now.  Love her imagination!
